9:25 60 degrees
We woke up to a beautiful sunny day and finally were able to
see the spectacular vistas that Dave and Becky had hoped we would experience
before we had to leave. Just made us want to stay even longer.
Dave took off at the same time taking his fishing boat to
Sitka Harbor for fuel. The Belle followed right behind leaving lovely Thimbleberry Bay.
With Mike and Diane now aboard, we all
waved good-bye to Becky while we were still basking in the glow of Sitka and the gracious hospitality that greeted us there. Thank you so very much, Dave and Becky.
We spotted Dave at the fuel dock as we cruised by the harbor
and Halibut Point which is the end of the 14 mile long paved highway in Sitka.
A group of seals greeted us as we retraced our route to return to Appleton
Cove.
The weather allowed us to sit up on the dodger and soak in
the sun. We were slightly early for slack tide in Sergius Narrows so anchored
for about 45 minutes and ate homemade (boat made?) apple pie.
The anchor was dropped around seven that evening. The cove
was very still but we got attacked by those pesky black flies that bite. The fly
swatters were madly swinging.
