Day 45 Tenakee Springs to Neka Bay

If you just keep clicking...you might end up with a winner shot

July 5th

Departed 6:00  sunny 60 degrees

We saw two whales right off the bat with one breeching!

Diane has coined the name “Drug Runner Boat” to a boat we have seen at least three times. There’s a fellow in a fast black dinghy that circles the boat when it is cruising and stays close.  There’s a helicopter aboard, as well. We once saw the black dinghy trailing behind another larger dinghy as if it were its bodyguard. Who knows??  It''s just fun to make up stories.

David had time to make some rosemary bread today and when they were out of the oven, he asked Diane to put them in plastic bags. I blurted out, “Wait a minute. Plastic bags? Can’t we just eat some?”  We all enjoyed a thick slice drowned in butter. That was lunch.

                                                            Just add butter

Today was a 7 ½ hour trip to Neka Bay off Icy Stait and Port Frederick.  Had time to drop some crab pots and will lay low tonight with plans to explore the town of Hoonah tomorrow and the “once was a cannery” building at the point.

Even at 60 degrees, it seems warmer than you would expect. We can manage in short sleeves and not be the least bit cold.
